Count the ways that you’d like to change your smile. Perhaps you have a couple of teeth that are chipped; another is broken; the spacing is wide between your front teeth; and all of them have lost their luster and whiteness. Dr. Share and his dental team can fix all of those imperfections with one cosmetic procedure. With porcelain veneers, Boston residents can conceal the smile they have and reveal the smile that they really want the world to see.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Also called dental veneers or sometimes just veneers, porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain or dental acrylic that are designed to recreate the appearance of teeth… only better. Because they are made of porcelain, veneers reflect light in a manner similar to your tooth enamel, so your smile always looks natural and bright. Porcelain veneers can be designed to alter the size, shape or color of teeth.
Consultation with Boston Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Share
Before beginning any cosmetic procedure, we always recommend a dental cleaning and exam, so Dr. Share can be sure there are no restorative procedures that should be performed first. Then, you and he will discuss the smile you’d like to see when you look in the mirror. While Dr. Share will want to create veneers that are appropriate for your mouth and your unique facial features, your input is an important consideration as he designs your new smile.
The Porcelain Veneers Procedure
Typically, receiving porcelains veneers requires two appointments at our Boston dental practice. At the first, Dr. Share will anesthetize the teeth and soft tissue in your smile zone. Then, he will gently remove a thin layer of enamel. This step is necessary in order to provide room for the veneers to fit comfortably in your mouth and create an improved appearance to your smile.
Once this process is completed, we’ll take an impression of your prepared teeth and give you a set of temporary veneers. While these are sturdy, you’ll need to be somewhat careful when biting and chewing.
In a couple of weeks your permanent veneers will arrive from our dental lab. During your second appointment, Dr. Share will carefully examine each veneer to make sure the appearance and fit are ideal. Then each veneer is carefully bonded into place. Your new veneers will give you a beautiful smile that resists stains even better than natural teeth.
